Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) of Ships a regulation which was issued by IMO in 2008 and came into effect on
January, 2009. The regulation applies to the following type of vessels : Cargo
ships, including high-speed craft of 300 gross tonnage and upwards, passenger
ships, and MODU or Mobile offshore drilling units (Amendments to SOLAS 1974,
Chapter V, Safety Navigation, Regulation 19-1 / 2.1 ).
It requires the identity and position of the ship (latitude and longitude) and
date / time of the position provided (associated with the GNSS position) at
regular intervals at least every 6 hours.
We engage in this regulation implementation, as an authorized ASP for Indonesian
Flag, which one of its main task is to conduct Conformance Test. Our experience
in developing Vessel Tracking System and managing the POINTREK® Vessel Tracking
Application really assist us to do the task as LRIT Authorized ASP.
